Car activities for kids

Magnetic Matching Activities

Made these simple matching activities for my Two. He loves this sort of thing, and it will give him something to do if he is starting to get antsy. As there are magnets on the back of each piece to keep him from slipping them, I'm hoping this will be simple and enjoyable. This does take some time to assemble, but I believe it will be well worth it. Watch the tutorial and get the free printables within this post, 2 seater truck.

Chat Cards

All these Are 100 dialogue starters at the form of "would you rather" questions. I love these! Would you rather have a pet chicken or a pet elephant? Would you rather lounge in a pool of marshmallows or even M & M's? Learn more and get your free printable cards (or simply a list of questions) in this post.

Magnetic Pattern Block Activities

We Have pattern blocks, but for this trip I purchased a magnetic set of blocks so the kids can use them in their baking sheets. I found the large pattern block activities at PreKinders. I published a transport, snowflake, and animals set. The children can each set a newspaper in their board and pay it with the magnetic blocks. I also published the little set of designs from Kelly's Kindergarten and jump them with a ring. (You will need to shrink her designs before printing them should you'd like them small.) My older children can recreate these images on their boards.

We Are planning a very long drive this week. We are hitting the road before sunup and driving until way past bedtime. As a survival strategy I've prepared a giant set of road excursion activities for children. In Just a short while our family will be taking a road trip. A Road that is loooong excursion. As In, start driving at 3 AM and hit our destination after 10 PM. With five kids ages 7 and below. And No, we do not have a DVD player in our van. This May seem a little mad, but seriously? Putting all seven people in a hotel room having a baby still waking up every 2 hours seems a whole lot crazier. So I've been working in a building and collecting an assortment of actions to maintain my team occupied for our big adventure.

Road Trip Printables

Hunted high and low free of street trip printables. These would be the best that I could find because not only are they from gifted bloggers, they are also easy to download and print. The Beautiful road trip drawing drives (empty street and truck) are from Picklebums. The Lovelyhand-drawn BINGO games are from Housing a Forest. The Simple and colorful Road Trip BINGO is from This Reading Mama. For Kids who can read, Interstate BINGO is just another fun printable from This Reading Mama. My Seven and Five will delight in this one. The Car Scavenger Hunt is from a giant set of road trip printables from 123Homeschool4Me.

Drawing Prompts

This Complete the Picture drawing pad from Melissa and Doug is brilliant. It's definitely too advanced for my 2 and probably my Four. However, I think it's something my older two children, ages seven and five, will really enjoy. I needed to trim the pages to fit them inside the small baking sheets.
